This could also be a self-portrait. Those of you who know me know that I suffer from chronic hives that visit me every couple of years for weeks or months at a time. Their cause still hasn't been determined. When I have them it's agony, when I don't, I barely remember what it feels like. Isn't that always the way with illnesses?

Cool illo but scary story. Ouch.
love
Your illo and your own hives story make me skiddish, eek, but, your illustration is a study in a bit of creepy and artsie sharpness.
The textures and colours are gorgeous. Original idea too.
Oh my, what a splendiforous angel.

Awwww so sad!
I absolutely LOVE this one. Wow, what a great idea and you can tell how much of yourself and how personal this is to you. Great detail, great color...quite surreal. The angle on the subject, with her back turned, the details on the back and the wings...the background, all magnificent! You really captured an original thought well.
Thanks for coming by my blog again.
Eww! You've really captured the insectiness of 'insect.' I've officially got the willies! Nice work!
It is so strange that something so Beautiful and Klimptesque is inspired by a horrifying illness. Life is stranger than fiction, sometimes. Hope they will figure out what causing it, and you will not have to suffer so much in the future. Lily.
Ooh, bug girl. The wings are nice--somewhere between translucent and transparent.
great drawing! great interpretation.
Really like the transparent wings.
Nicely done.
You did a fantastic job interpreting feeling and emotion in this. I LOVE it!
This image is very powerful. Thank you for sharing.

Great work! :)

Sorry about your condition. Still, at least you turned it into a positive and created this great art here!

Nice juxtaposition- a serene soft fairy and silky background with the creepy chaos of buzzy insects working away. Beautiful.

Passionate and intense. Really captures that sense of uneasiness.
Sorry to hear that! Beautiful illustration!
Thanks for all your comments.

Sorry to hear about the hives. Yuk! I love the illo and now you've personalized it.
