This morning Jake asked to paint. So we got out the paint pens and I started using them in the manner intended, dotting colours around my paper like a sedate granny playing bingo. Jake however had no such limitations. He turned the pens upside down and began squeezing their barrels. Great shiny globs of colour fell all over his page. I had to resist the urge to stop him, ignoring the voices saying that he was using too much paint and that it would never dry. Instead, we swirled the colours together and said “Wow!” a lot. Toddler art rocks.
