reverb10 ~ Prompt six: Make (and a giveaway)

Apart from the drawing I made for yesterday’s prompt, the last thing I completed was a piece of embroidery, my first, based on a drawing I did of Jake’s first pair of shoes. I stitched it on a linen napkin square (bought cheap from Sainsbury’s), using black 6-strand embroidery floss.

Since then, I have been occupied with making lotuses. I’m currently working on two, a piece of lotus stitchery and a commissioned A3 drawing, a larger version of the Tangerine Moon Lotus listed in my etsy shop.

In the run up to xmas, now that we have decided to follow the “Giving not Buying” spirit of xmas partly inspired by this post at Zen Habits, I will need to clear some time to make some gifts which I naturally can’t write about here.

The great thing is, I’m always making something or wanting to make something. The ideas are always there. In fact, the less time I seem to have, the more I want to make!

In the spirit of giving and to celebrate the joy of making, I’d like to give away 2 sets of 2 of my Moon Lotus postcards (image below). If you’d like to win them, just leave me a comment by 5pm on Friday 10th December, UK time. I will then select two names at random and aim to post the cards out on Monday 13th December, all being well. Moon Tree Giveaway

As part of the May Giveaway being hosted at Sew Mama Sew (click on the image in the sidebar for more information), I'm giving away this 'Moon Tree' drawing.  It measures approximately 5 x 7 inches and was drawn on kraft card using ink, gel & waterbased marker pens.  It's the first drawing I've done in weeks.  Boy does it feel good to be drawing again!

If you'd like to win it, please leave a comment for this post.  I will ship Internationally.  You can either have it framed or unframed.  And you can either have the frame with or without the glass in it.  I know it's weird but I can't guarantee the glass won't break.  I haven't had great success at sending picture frames through the post intact.

I'll leave the giveaway open until 9:00pm (UK time) Thursday 20th May, after which I'll choose a name at random out of a hat  use a random number generator to pick the winner(s) (see below).  I'll announce the results on Friday and send the drawing out by 24th May. 

EDIT (18 May 2010)> Holy cr*p!!  Due to the overwhelming interest in this giveaway (which I did not anticipate), in addition to the one winner who will receive the original print, I will also pick 10 names at random to receive a smaller postcard print of this drawing.  (I will now be using a random number generator to select the winners - thank you yellow lamp for letting me in on this nifty device!  Although the idea of writing everybody's name down on little pieces of paper is ever so romantic, I can really do without the hand cramp).  If you haven't got a blog or website, please leave your email address when you comment so I can get in touch with you.  Postcard winners will be receiving their cards a bit later as I've just ordered them to be printed.
