beginner's mind...our viola in pot

Meeting a friend for dinner the other night, I was reminded of the importance of beginner's mind...

"The mind of the beginner is empty, free of the habits of the expert, ready to accept, doubt, and open to all the possibilities. It is the kind of mind which can see things as they are, which step by step in a flash can realize the original nature of everything." from Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki.

I won't ever mind "getting back to basics" or being a beginner ever again...

There is nothing quite so wonderfully alive as being free to be empty, fresh, and new. Discovery happens- rejuvenation happens! Enjoy your creative adventures- and that quote is great!
Cheers,

Odd you should say this. I took a couple of mature yet, beginer sailing students yesteday.
One quiet innocently did somthing so simple to save them some effort that I , set in my ways, hadn't even questioned or even thought of doing before.

I've been doing the same manoeuvre to day.
The old dog learns new tricks from the young pup learning old tricks.
The empty mind figures it out for its self..
